Recent Etrop Grange Review: "I booked this hotel for a Friday night so that my girlfriend and I could travel into Manchester to visit the German Christmas markets. Our check in was fine, nothing special but nothing went awry. The check in staff told us directions to our room which, seeing as the hotel is an old Georgian house, were quite complicated. Inevitably we took a wrong  turning and ended up near to the restaurant toilets. Seconds later a nice employee called down to us and instead of just telling us where we'd gone wrong, he led us the rest of the way carrying my girlfriend's luggae in the process. He opened the door for us, explained how the air conditioning worked and was generally a very helpful and pleasant man. We later needed to get the train into Manchester from the airport - we asked for the taxi at reception (complimentary) and two minutes later the same man showed us to the waiting taxi, opened the doors for us and drove us to the station. He took the time to explain how to contact the hotel from the station phone on our return and the fact that if it was after 10pm the hotel would arrange a complimentary taxi with the local firm. We did return after 10pm and the taxi was arranged and arrived within 5 minutes. The room was very nice; it had a lovely old bed and the bathroom was very nice too. The TV worked fine (all channels programmed properly) and the a/c kept us warm all night. The iron and ironing board were very good to have too. Although we were staying across the road from the airport we didn't hear a single plane! And the fact that there was a thumping Christmas party going on when we got back that night didn't stop us from sleeping; we didn't hear that either! Check out in the morning was seamless - the same man (Peter I think) checked our account and confirmed we had nothing to pay for so we were 'free to go'! Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Etrop Grange. We will definitely be staying there again and will now think about flying from Manchester Airport in t"
